"Dragon Tamers" by Emma Maree Urquhart

Don't know what DT is? Good for you, you don't need to read this.

Looking for gossip on DT? Look elsewhere, this post is just here to straighten a few things out.

There's been a rumour going along the wire that just so happens to have reached my ears about people, supposedly 'smart people', such as book store owners abroad, making stupid decisions about Dragon Tamers because they've been reading shit abou it on outdated links on Blogger.

Ahaha. Now, far me it for me to defend DT (it was years ago now people, the gal's matured, her stuff's changed for the better with it, I care far more for the newer stuff of hers), but I'm sure as Hell not going to let this go on.

People seem to actually think that the Internet Is Serious Buisness.

...Dear God.

Let's get straight to the point.

Dragon Tamers and Aultbea Publishing are completely different things.

Emma is an author. She is NOT directly part of Aultbea. She does not pull the strings. She does not decide what is said, done, etc etc. She does not sit in the main office drinking tea and rejecting all the books sent in by adults with nothing better to do with their time then try to jump on the bandwagon with STORIES FOR SIX YEAR OLDS IN ALL CAPITALS LAWLZ. Okay, that last part might have been a lie, but I'll bet you ten dolla she doesn't do it by choice.

Let me break it down a bit for you:

- The lass has no power over the Internets, the mass media, and most of the stuff said about her. She doesn't even get asked interesting questions in interviews. It's a terrible waste of a mind.
- However, she does have a website over here. THAT SITE (specifically, the forum) she does have power over. If you have an issue with DT, you go there, join the forum or send an e-mail, and you can ask here. That's right. And she will give you an answer. Because she's a real person, believe it or not, who can speak for herself, without people assuming stuff through the news or blog posts.
- Anyone can mishear quotes and stick in in the paper, or just make it up (y helo thar Emma, how's life as a millionaire?).
- Anyone can make a Blogger site and have it dominate the Google search resutls like some crazy... dominating thing. This is because Blogger is owned by - shock horror here - Google PLC, and you can hardly blame them for looking after their own and giving shitty web results.
- Anyone can write anything on Blogger. For example:

Are you folks getting the point yet? It is completely and utterly retarded to believe what you read in papers, see on the TV, read in fiction books, or read on the world wide Internets. Especially the latter.

My dog is licking my foot. I believe that means he agrees with me. Fiiiiiinally, I find someone with a head on their shoulders, and it's a midgit dog...

So yes. This blog post is going out to all the idiots who judge people on what they read about them, on the Internet. If you want to know about somone, you talk to them, or at least read about them from a source you trust - a biography, a decent magazine (note: "Pick Me Up!" and the majority of newspapers don't fall under this category. Even freakin' Wired gets stuff wrong). But only the latter two if you actually can't reach the person themselves, and when they have a website, with e-mail and a forum, you really don't need to bother.

Well, that was a fun vent. Let's see how long it takes for this thing to get to the first page of Google results, eh?

Comments welcome.
